as to where research can go …

wondering the mysteries of consumer behavior / materialism and importance objects come in to our lives, stumbled on this Capitalism Mantra

“He who dies with most toys, wins”

Googled’it

and got to this (apparently very well known joke):

Judaism – He who buys toys at the lowest price, wins.

Catholicism – He who denies himself the most toys, wins.

Atheism - There is no toy maker.

Anglican – They were our toys first.

Greek Orthodox - No, they were ours first.

Branch Davidians – He who dies playing with the biggest toys, wins.

Hari Krishna – He who plays with the most toys, wins.

Polytheism – There are many toy makers.

Evolutionism – The toys made themselves.

Church of Christ, Scientist – We are the toys.

Communism – Everyone gets the same number of toys.

B’Hai - All toys are just fine with us.

Amish – Powered toys are surely a sin.

Taoism - The doll is as important as the dump truck.

Mormonism – Every boy may have as many toys as he wants.

Voodoo – Let me borrow that doll for a second….

Jehovah’s Witnesses – He who sells the most toys door-to-door, wins.

Pentecostalism – He whose toys can talk, wins.

Existentialism – Toys are a figment of your imagination.

Confusianism – Once a toy is dipped in water, it is no longer dry.

Non-denominationalism – We don’t care where the toys came from, let’s just play with them.

Just seems to make it so much easier to choose your beliefs !!!

developing new touch points

If there is something I love about internet, is the sharing of knowledge. Two of the blogs I have been following religiously are Logic+ Emotion by David Armano , VP of Experience Design with Critical Mass, and Innovation Playground by Idris MooTee CEO at idea couture.

This presentation I’ve discovered at one of those weekly readings at David Armano’s blog and followed the link until subscribing googletechtalks Channel at youTUBE.

Regarding the presentation it self, it is a precious piece of knowledge for marketing professionals, designers and all of those working on innovation towards improving user experience.

The presentation is done for Google employees by design consultancy Adaptive Path staff membres, presenting the book “Subject To Change”.

As Philippe Stark put it “Nous sommes des transmetteurs, des traducteurs.” about designers, and i think we can extend to marketing too … I believe the role we have as designers and marketing professional is to provide the best user experience to the customer. In order to do so, we have to immerse ourselves in the context and experience of the user and translate it i to an improving / delight / WoW touching point with our product / brand / company.

This presentation underlines “compilation of thoughts”. Good to take some notes, I know I did !!

A truly funny and relevant way to state your point …. reveling not only the powerful characteristics of the product – DTACK – Adhesive tape, but also making a very relevant ( and humors ) statement about an important aspect of the body culture today.

about Marketing & Innovation
January 9, 2007, 12:20 pm

This view is also consistent with the perspective of management guru Peter Drucker, who wrote:

“Because the purpose of business is to create a customer, the business enterprise has two–and only these two–basic functions: marketing and innovation.

Marketing and innovation produce results; all the rest are costs. Marketing is the distinguishing, unique function of the business.”[3]
